How can I upgrade to the old compass using gem install?

I used the compass http://compass-style.org/ to manage my css sites for a long time. I just installed the latest version and I got a pretty nasty bug that distorted all my css files as a side effect. How do I upgrade to an earlier version?

Thanks Matt

I had a similar situation and there is something else in response to @corroded. Since @Matt Lynn lowers the rating, he needs to delete the existing version of the compass.

$ sudo gem uninstall compass $ sudo gem install compass --version versionnumber

Otherwise, you will get two different versions of the compass.

If you want to automate it in a script (I had the same problem after gem update ), just follow these steps:

  • Install your preferred version (if it is not already)

    gem install compass -v 1.2.3

  • Removing new versions

gem uninstall compass -v '>1.2.3' --force
