VS2010 does not display project properties ("base RCW")?

Only occasionally (I have not noticed the template yet), VS2010 shows the following error (where I would expect the body of the property page) when I right-click on the project (various types of projects) and select "Properties":

An error occurred trying to load the page. COM object that has been separated from its underlying RCW cannot be used.

Usually I can view the project pages after restarting VS2010. I am using the RTM version.

What can cause this error?
