The difference between the C7 Compatible and the base of programs

I found very little information about the difference between C7 compatibleand Program Database(there is a third, Edit and Continue Program Database), but this should be the same as in the program database, with the ability to edit and continue). The only solid information I could find was that it C7 compatibleincluded debugging information in obj files, and Program Databasecreated a file .pdbfor debugging purposes.

Is there any potential for using C7 compatiblevs. Program Database? What is the disadvantage?

Additional notes: I tried both and still, debugging information is saved in both cases
