SQL Server Difference Between Directory Views, Information Schema Views, and DMVs

I know that information schema views are part of the SQL standard, but I find that directory views, as well as the term "term" DMV, are used interchangeably

Any explanation that clearly states the difference, in particular the difference between the catalog views and the DMV?
