Tortoisegit = fatal: the remote end hung unexpectedly, but not with git bash

The problems are a bit weird, and after about 1 week of searching and just using bash, I thought I would ask you guys.

Just when I try to push or pull through the turtle, he asks me about the details of the magazine, as soon as I enter them, I get "deadly: the remote end unexpectedly hung up." I thought that maybe I was not the right user, so I changed myself as root: url = ssh: // root @ ... but still no luck.

I don’t know what it can, but maybe someone else had the same problem.

Any guys you know?

[edit] This is fixed by uninstalling tortoisegiton Windows, restarting, and then reinstalling.

I had the same problem and reinstallation did not help. I do not know if there was a server change (I do not use Github), or if this is due to the fact that I upgraded to Tortoise Git 1.8 or what. But he always asked for my username every time I tried to connect, but now he just gives this error.

It turns out that this is a problem with the settings. The repository in the Tortoise Git --> settings --> remoteURL was set to hostname.com:myRepo. It worked, but apparently there was no more; I changed it to username@hostname.com:myRepo.

I had a similar problem. After I changed https to http in the url, everything worked fine. However, your connection will not be secure.

When pulling files, I use this URL

http://github.com/ user / folder
