How to resize buttons in the options menu?

Question

I have an options menu (it appears when you press the phone menu key) with 5 buttons, all of them have one 48x48 image and text.

Now five buttons are displayed in two lines, but I want to reduce their size to fit all five buttons on one line.

How can i achieve this?

Can this be done with parameters in the XML menu file?
