What slows down the binding?

Is this the process of executing the binding or the presence of many things related to the fact that the problem of binding more events than is necessary in the first place?

The answer is probably both, but to what extent?

In addition, I would suggest that mouseover events are more expensive than click events, as they need to be checked more often. Correctly?

Binding events takes a lot of time, so if you bind, say, a hundred or more events, the user’s interaction with the browser will be “unprecedented” for the time spent binding all these events.
