I am considering a project in which workstations connected to a central server display various content under the control of a central timeline.
The requirements are that kiosks can have different monitor compositions and an extended desktop. This screen space will be used to display images, films or various mosaics of images and films.
For example, a machine with 3x3 monitors can be configured to display video on the lower right four screens, the title in the top three videos, and elsewhere.
I’m figuring out how to create a viewer. I think sticking to web technologies that I know well would be nice, and using JavaScript for the timeline mechanism would be easy.
Regarding codecs and video drivers, I think I will stick with Chrome, Css3 and Html5, I think I might need Chrome and Windows 7.
There are several issues.
Will there be performance problems given the separation of video on different monitors on the extended desktop?
Will a pixel have a predictable size and stack divso that images fit inside a physical monitor or monitoring group?
Thanks to everyone.
