Sorl-thumbnail: upgrade to a new version

I remember that there was a discussion about the future sorl-thumbnailand big changes; now this page is gone ... I'm glad that the project is still actively supported, but I can not find a mention of the backward compatibility problem in the documentation.

So what do I need to do to upgrade the old sorl (v3.2.5) to the current version (which is 10.12.1)? Is it necessary to fix, say, the use of template tags or settings?

sorl-thumbnail 10+ is very different from version 3.2.5-. This will require you to rewrite everything that uses the sorl sketch if you want to update. No matter how difficult and time-consuming it may be, it is usually not such a big job. I upgraded from the old version to the new one in numerous projects, some of which are very large, and ut is a fairly simple and fairly fast job. First of all, it is worth considering new features with storage support, high-quality images using pgmagick and easy integration with the administrator, to name a few. As already mentioned, another route is probably to use a simple sketch, which still has a lot in common with the old thumbnail ripped off.
