How to use Windows 7 features in my simple .net application without any new API?

I want to use Windows 7 features such as overlaying icons and sketching tasks, but my question is that I can do this without using any other APIs only on my simple .net 3.5. I recently turned on jumplists in an application in my C # .net 3.5 using the Shell routine, so you can do something similar to overlay icons and other functions of the Windows 7 taskbar.

And can the old application be like a notepad, which I am sure was made many years ago using these new features?
