How to recreate a preview of images from external sites?

Like the Facebook UI, I am trying to create a preview image from an external linked website. So when the user enters the URL that he associates, the user interface will, by default, crawl this site for img and clear the preliminary index.

Is there a specific name for this technique? Or can someone point me towards studying this?

It is called scraping. There is a library called scrAPI.
