How to handle existing mixed case indexed urls?

I have an asp.net web form application that has been living for several years and, as such, has quite a lot of indexed content on Google.

Ideally, I would prefer that all the Url for the site be lowercase, but I understand that having two versions of the same content indexed by search engines (MixedCase.aspx and mixedcase.aspx) would be bad for seo.

It was interesting to me:

a) Should I just leave everything in my current mixed case form and never change it?

OR

b) I can change the code so that everything is lowercase from here, BUT, is there a way to do this so that search engines know about this change and do not punish me?

Having two versions of the same URL will cause recurring content problems, although search engines are usually smart enough to know that the two pages are the same.

There are two good solutions. First, use the canonical meta tag to indicate the preferred version of the URL. With this solution, as MixedCase.aspxwell as MixedCase.aspxdisplays the same page, but search engines know exactly what is the "correct" URL-address. Make sure you update all of your links on the bottom line.
