How to check android: alwaysRetainTaskState

I have an application that works great, except when it is in the background for a long time and comes back to the fore. I am wondering if this is due to the alwaysRetainTaskState flag when the system cleared my activity stack. I would like to test it, but I do not want to sit every day for about 30 minutes. Is there any way to cause normal system behavior in any other way?

Update: If I set the android: clearTaskOnLaunch flag, will it do the same as always with RetainTaskState when I restart the application?
