Vim: is a list of vertical tabs possible?

Is it possible for the vim tab list to be presented vertically on the left side of the editor?

It would be very helpful, but I have not yet been able to find plugins that can do this. (am i sucking on google?)

It seems to me that you use tabs as buffers. I politely ask you to take a second to read this answer, if that is true. I also urge you to change this habit.

, , " ", :ls, . --.

, , , :tabs.

In context: I use gvim -remote-tab almost exclusively to launch the editor. I tried Randy a :lsbit, but after I left gvim for a week or two, the list ended up popping with a bang from the tabs I already had :quit. After reading the manual I found :tabs.
