I’m working on a website designed for an iPad that uses HTML5 video, but despite the fact that I’m playing video, I can’t get a poster image for my whole life. It looks great on the Safari desktop. Here is the code:
<video src="video/about_the_man.mp4" controls height=360 width=480 poster="video/posters/about_the_man.jpg"></video>
I use this link as a link (Listing 1.2): http://developer.apple.com/library/safari/#documentation/AudioVideo/Conceptual/Using_HTML5_Audio_Video/AudioandVideoTagBasics/AudioandVideoTagBasics.html#//apple_ref/doc/u95/uoc/u95/uoc/u95/u -CH2-SW6
It says that on iOS, the image of the poster will be displayed until the user starts playback, but now all I get is a black screen with a screen size with a large play button in the center. I looked at other publications on this top ( here and here ), but not a single solution worked for me. The only thing that’s a bit unusual for the site is that the video element is in the built-in lightbox, so it doesn’t appear on pageload initially but I don’t know why this might matter.
Any thoughts?
