What is the best approach for integrating Lotus Notes applications?

Question

I am exploring how we can associate a Java application with a Lotus Notes application. The Lotus Notes application is actually a workflow application.

We need to get information, for example:

• Give me all the documents that have this condition.
• Give me the contents of the xyz notes document.

We need to be able to change information:

• Change the reporter of the document field "xyz" to "abc"

We need to be able to look at least at the magazine so that we have at least some trace in the development of our application.
