Where can I find documentation for NHibernate ISession.Persist ()?

Question

NHibernate ISession provides the Persist () method with two overloads. I can not find documentation on this method anywhere. It is not even mentioned in the NHibernate reference at http://nhibernate.info/doc/nh/en/index.html .

Is this method obsolete or will it be? When should it be used? How to compare this with SaveOrUpdate ()?

Any pointers would be much appreciated.
