Is there an open source firmware for any low-maintenance mobile phone (not a smartphone)?

This question concerns low-income mobile phones that cost between $ 50 and $ 100, unlike smartphones such as the iPhone or those that support Android.

The Nokia 1280, 1800 are a few examples.

  • I want to configure functions such as "Contacts", "SMS" in such a phone. So I either want to get the source code of its firmware compatible with one or more of these phones, or would I like to know about a seller who could sell a cell phone in this price range along with the source code of the firmware?

  • Do these phones have any OS running on them? Or just a single-threaded firmware program?

I'm sorry there wasn’t such a phone. As far as I can tell, not a single major phone manufacturer provides either the source of its firmware or the specifications that you need to write yourself. I think your best bet is to look at the open moko: http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/Neo_FreeRunner_GTA02_Hardware
