When to use memcached

I plan to use memcached on one of my sites. On the memcached homepage

Memcached is a key-value in memory to store small pieces of arbitrary data

I am considering using memcached on a search / result page, where each query returns about 4kb (text).

In this case, is it wise to use memcached?

Yes, absolutely.

I currently use Memcache on several sites and regular blobs repositories of 50 kB or more in size. Personally, I would say that anything below 500kb would be fine, but I would recommend that you read memcache docs for specifics.

Yes, that should be good. As a rule, everything up to 1 MB is fine.
