CSS stylesheets load asynchronously

When loading style sheets via a tag, do style sheets load asynchronously or synchronously? I have a design with two stylesheets: mura.css and typography.css. They are loaded into the page area, and typography.css is loaded immediately before mura.css. For some reason, the mura.css attributes appear in Chrome Webtools as being rewritable with typography.css.

CSS files are loaded in the order in which they are included in the file.

If something from the first CSS file overwrites something in the second CSS file, this is most likely due to the misuse of your selectors. Double check your selectors on page elements that incorrectly style.
