How to release and install two versions of the same Android application using the same package on the same device

I have an Android app with two different res folders (res-1, res-2) containing all the layouts and one common package. Using ant, I can only release and install on my device one of two versions of the application at a time. I want to free and install both of them at the same time in order to be able to see and test them both on my device. Any suggestions how to achieve this? Thanks in advance.

It is impossible to install two applications with the same package name, the existing one will be overwritten by the newly installed one. Renaming another package would be a solution. Maybe test one in AVD and the other on the device?

Why not just turn on all the resources, and then at runtime determine what is right?
