How to work together with Matlab?

Question

For the project, we need to write a Matlab simulation and would like to share work on several people. Since there are some unprofessional programmers, and we are dealing with a small project, we want to keep it simple and use Dropbox, so there is no version control system.

What are the possibilities to do this? What is the best way to separate functions? How do you split a program into multiple files?
