How to disable Performance Explorer from opening every time?

In the project in which you performed a performance analysis, the Performance Explorer tab always opens when VS starts, even if it was closed immediately before VS came out.

How to disable it and not open it?

This is actually a BUG, since Visual Studio 2012 , which has been open since the summer of 2012, still has no official MS fix.

Here is a workaround for this annoyance:

  • From Windows Explorer, navigate to the VS project folder.
  • Delete the following file types, if any:
    • file.vsp - (VS Performance Report)
    • file.vsps - (VS-analyzed reports)
    • file.psess - (VS performance session)
  • Reopen Solution, if there is an error, click OK (the solution will still be downloaded).
  • Close the solution
  • Let's open the solution - the tab "Performance Explorer" will finally disappear!

@B. Clay Shannon - thanks for the update to remove * .vsps

In VS2015 Update 1, deleting the .psess file according to Leonel Gurdian's answer does not work. However, changing true to false in the next part of the .sln file did the trick.

 GlobalSection(Performance) = preSolution HasPerformanceSessions = true EndGlobalSection

And he is still present in VS 2015 RC! You need to select additional options to start Performance Explorer, but if it was once open, it reappears every time the IDE starts, when you open your project.

But deleting the psess file in ProjectFolder still works.

Right-click all items in the Performance Explorer, select Delete, and confirm the dialogs. After restarting Visual Studio, it will disappear.
