(iphone) what does [super touchhesBegan / Moved / Ended] do?

Most overloaded methods require a call [super theMethod].

(E.g. [super viewDidLoad];, [super viewWillAppear];and [super dealloc];)

I did not think twice whether I needed a call [super touchesBegan:withEvent:]or not, but somehow it plays a role.

When do I need it and when do I not need it?

I am trying to programmatically cancel sensory events when I need it, and it seems to be related to the question I asked.
