I know that classic SEO articles have a chapter on how important it is to have content before anything else (like navigation), and recommends that we implement the craziest CSS hacks to make sure our content is before anything else.
On the other hand, I would really like to start using grid systems for my new project, and the grid system that I like does not support the reverse order, as 960.gs. does. So this means that my HTML should have this structure:
<div header>
<div vertical-nav>
<div middle>
<div horizontal-nav>
<div content>
</div>
<div footer>
My question is, is Google really so stupid not to understand such things? I mean, the company has the most intelligent algorithms on Earth ... Do we really need to hack into our websites just because we think this makes reading easier for Google? Naturally, I think that good meta tags, headers and URLs are much more important; but I am not an expert in this field.
Can a site with the structure above get good SEO results, assuming that the meta, title and URL are well implemented?
