How does Google Gmail save its email messages?

How Google stores its emails at 7 GB / user so that it quickly starts to extract, and also is not subject to corruption.

Is it in a NoSQL database or just a jornaling file system?

According to Gmail Priority Inbox Learning, Google is making β€œwidespread use of bigtable, which combines the functions of a distributed system file with a database."

BigTable is described in the 2006 OSDI document .
