Logging into Joomla 1.5 Using an external form (not in the joomla folder, but on the same server)

I currently have a Joomla 1.5 installation, as well as another site. They are both located on the same web server. However, they are located in different folders in the wwwroot directory. I would like to post a registration form on the non-joomla website, which will register the user in Joomla. I have already tried copying and pasting the code of the Joomla login form to a page on a site other than joomla, and everything works fine until the value of the secret form is correct. Any help is appreciated.

It turned out to me that it works differently (after a day of rewriting the code and other things). First of all, make sure the php file is in your Joomla root directory. If the token and login work, but your browser does not receive cookies, put the cookie code in front of the postal code. This works just fine. Thanks again Brent for your help.
