How to redirect index.php to another page using .htaccess?

Question

My htaccess file currently contains this rule for redirecting website.org/index.php to website.org/en/home

RewriteRule index.php /en/home [R=301]

However, other pages index.phpin deeper folders are being redirected at this time ! for example website.org/folder/index.phpredirected towebsite.org/en/home

How can I apply this rule exclusively to the root, and not to deeper folders? Many thanks.
