How to reduce the number of polygons of a 3D model using 3DS Max 9.0

I have an OBJ model that is very heavy, I want to reduce the size of the model, and the model is a very thin mesh, I want to reduce the number of polygons. I need this model to import into iphone application.

There are several solutions. In 3ds Max, you can use the Optimize modifier or the Multires modifier. Outside of 3ds Max, you can use Meshlab to process the OBJ and then import into 3ds Max.
