In Spring Roo: what is a dynamic crawler?

I am browsing Spring web framework with Roo.

And, I look at vote.roo provided in the sample directory.

This line caught my attention:

finder list --class com.springsource.vote.domain.Vote --depth 2 --filter reg,betw,IpEq

In Spring Roo: what is a dynamic crawler? What does this line mean?

Roo can be used to generate Finder methods in your Entity classes. In other words, it will create a static method for Entity that can query the back end for a specific instance of that Entity based on some of the provided field values.
