Ecommerce in java (My Baptism of Fire)

I am working on a JEE6 project for some client, he asked me to create a very simple e-commerce store. I am not very familiar with money transfers on the Internet, I want clients to be able to transfer funds to my bank account (direct bank) before I send them the goods they purchased (classic online store). I don’t really understand how payment gateways or verification systems work. I was wondering if anyone can give me some tips on what I need to know in order to get started in the world of e-commerce? I will also be very happy if I can eliminate some of the doubts that are on my mind:

  • I am programming in JEE6, do I need any API to be able to make bank transfers?

  • Do I need third-party software, and if you could recommend me one of these programs?

  • How often does third-party electronic payment software work?

  • Is the process of integrating third-party payment software into a JEE6 application complicated?

  • I am using Glassfish application server V3.0. Are there any restrictions regarding electronic payments?

I apologize if some of the doubts seem strange or unrelated to the topic, but, as I said, I do not understand the topic of e-commerce, and I feel lost.

Thank you for your help.

To get started, why not take a look at Paypal , Realex, and HSBC . Although there are many, many more ...

I used all three of the above, and everything was in order. I preferred Realex (good documentation and service), but it will depend on your location and circumstances.

Answers to these questions:

  • I am programming in JEE6, do I need any API for bank transfers?

Payment gateways will provide the web service you call.

  • Do I need third-party software, and if you could recommend one of these software products to me?

Remember that your product line can grow to such an extent that you want to take on part of the purchases and trade, and then you can use PayPal or Google Checkout to make your sales part. There are also many directories.
