Algorithm for determining how a positive or negative operator / text

I need to implement a mood analysis. Can someone point me to examples / reference implementations?

One approach:

• assemble operator corps and text
• manually classify each statement as positive or negative
• make sure your enclosure is "large enough" in size, for example. ~ 1000 classifications
