In particular, which components and languages are used and why?
At a high level, how do these parts fit together?
I assume that there are many databases (MYSQL, what else? And why?)
Do some compiled languages speak with them (C ++ or Java? Why?) Are search engines and recommendations written in the same language?
There is an interface between compiled language / advisory mechanisms / database queries and some display language on the server-interface (PHP? Python? Why)
I'm just as interested in what they use as I do, why they use it ... any help here would be greatly appreciated!
