Oracle Install to connect to SSIS (and 32 bit drivers)

I have an SSIS package (SQL 2008) that I need to connect to Oracle DB (11g). What do i need to install to connect to oracle? What is the terminology? All the search queries that I talked about are related to Instant Client, but I don’t see exe at boot time? I know that installing the server will give me that Oracle Net manager (user interface for updating TNSNames.ora), but I do not want to install the entire server. This must be excessive. What is the minimum footprint so that I can create a connection to the oracle DB through my connection manager in SSIS?

And what's the difference between Instant Client and Oracle Client tools, etc.? There is so much secret (at least to me) terminology that it is confusing.

Ps - From reading http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/topics/dotnet/index-085163.html you would think that this is what I wanted, but the download just has install.bat, which seems to be doing nothing! Typical of the “solutions” I've tried so far.

I used this link Configuring SSIS 2008 to connect to Oracle and successfully used VS 2012 to use SSIS with Oracle 11.2 instantclient. All credit to the author, Jerry Dee. NOTE. A single registry entry is required for ORACLE_HOME.
