I watched Silverlight to create a "cross-platform" desktop application (Windows and Mac anyway), but there is one trial plug for which I cannot find a workaround. On Mac OS, in Adobe AIR, AIR applications have the ability to change the main window menu in the Mac OS menu bar (File, Edit, View, Help, etc.). I cannot find a way to do this from Silverlight OOB.
For Windows, obviously, I could just create my own menu directly in XAML and use it. However, this is not at all suitable for Mac OS, and it will be very funny for Mac users. This may not be a show for many people, but for me it is. What can I do to get around this without waiting for Microsoft to implement it? (Which I doubt they will ever be.)
The only thing I can think of is to create my own OS X application with a single window that has a WebView, and then move it to the silverlight application. However, I lose complete confidence in the moment that really sucks.
