Using libtool without using links

Question

My Makfileuses libtoolapache to create some modules.

Unfortunately, I need my make file to work with the general browser VMWare ( hgfs), which does not support any links (symbolic or hard links).

Is it possible to use libtooland use cpinstead ln -s, WITHOUT correcting a variable LN_STin a script and thus violating the libtoolrest of the system, preventing future updates to libtool?
