Is there a way to track the "real" packet route if I'm behind a VPN?

I would like to find a way to have a real route as an answer, tracking the server when I'm behind a VPN.

For example, the first trace trace of stackoverflow.com from my computer is my router. When I type in a VPN, the first hope is a vpn server.

My question is: if this is a way to find out (although I'm for a VPN) the "real" packet route to reach the VPN server.
