Can I create my own summary field in an Excel 2007 pivot table?

Is it possible to create a custom function "sum the value by field", which will be used in the pivot table XL 2007. Standard sums, column, average, max, etc. are not enough for me. I would make a decision in VBA or a solution that requires XLA or XLL.

Please note that I am NOT asking about a design field or design element. None of my goals - I need to summarize basic data with features such as median, 1st quartile, etc.
