Alt / Option Key After Cc in Aquamacs

I work with Aquamacs on a Macbook with a German keyboard. I set the Meta and German option so that the alt / option key works as Altif necessary, but Metaotherwise. So far, so good. Now I want to call a function bound to C-c [( reftex-citation). Unfortunately, now I mean how to enter it: on a German keyboard, the square bracket is attached to Alt-5, but, apparently, after the C-cnext version of alt / Aquamacs interprets Meta (or something completely different) because when I type C-c, followed by Alt-5, I get the message ^C ⌥5 is undefined. Is there any way to get the square bracket after C-c?

(In this particular case, I just bounced reftex-citationto another key, so it's okay, but I met a problem in several options now, so I thought that I would find out what I was doing or understanding was wrong.)
