Awfully slow compilation using Xcode 3.2.5 and 3.2.6

OS X 10.6.7, Xcode 3.2.6 (although 3.2.5 shows the same behavior), Mac Pro - 2 2.4 GHz Quad with 8 GB of RAM.

We have several such machines, all but one of which work perfectly. Normal cleaning / assembly takes about 5-7 minutes. On a "naughty" car, it takes about 30 minutes.

Before starting the assembly, the operating system has more than 5 GB of RAM, the processor load is almost zero. We do not see anything that could eat resources.

This is just a simple iOS project (using gcc 4.2) - nothing out of the ordinary. As soon as we start the assembly, the XIB compiles quickly. Only when we get into the 15th 16th implementation file (.m) does the build process slow down to a crawl. At this point, we still have a ton of RAM and very little CPU usage.

Any recommendations on how we could track down a problem with this machine?

Thank!

Are you planning a debug release or configuration? Stripping binary files (release configuration) can be quite time-consuming during build.
