Chrome: check item and see source

I am using Chrome 10 to get a web service response in XML. The request completes successfully. Then I want to view the contents of the results.

I go to Inspect Element and see the desired XML. For curiosity, I also consider the source. I’m sure Chrome’s work is that the Inspect Element function is the correct result.

My problem is that the results in Inspect Element and View Source are different. In fact, the Inspect Element gives the correct results, while the View Source provides an error. The error is an authentication error, so the response still ends, but acts like a failure.

Why are they so different?
