Can the Google App Engine support SSL using custom domains (i.e. using Google Apps)?

Does the Google App Engine support SSL for applications hosted as mydomain.com?

I know that GAE does not yet support this, but is there any reason why this cannot be done? If they can add support, I would suggest that they work on it. Did they say anything about this publicly?

They found an interesting way for a single certificate per IP address. Because they register certificates, they register each certificate with 20+ domains on it. Thus, they multiplex 20 different domains on one IP address.

Anyway, we use it in Voost, and we are very pleased with it.
