Were any LGPL projects branched and left LGPL after the plug?

Have any LGPL projects been branched so that they remain LGPL after the plug? I would like to know if this is possible (done).

Assumptions for the scenario:
(1) The GPL version exists before the fork (2) The LGPL Version exists before the fork

After fork, can fork be LGPL or should there be a GPL?
