ORA-00257: archiver error

Question

When I try to connect to my database, I get the following error.

ORA-00257: archiver error. Connect the internal ones only until they are released.

Until yesterday, the database was quite functional.

Any workaround?

In SQL * Plus, you can

SQL> show parameter log_archive

• If LOG_ARCHIVE_START- FALSE, you want to set it to TRUE.
• If it LOG_ARCHIVE_DESTpoints to an invalid directory, you will want to modify it to point to a valid directory.
