Get CVS log / history similar to git log?

I am a git guy, but now I need to temporarily use CVS in the project. I could not find a command that displays a beautifully formatted chronological list of commits with the author, commit message, date and revision (and nothing more).

Instead, I get all kinds of useless information about the RCS file, locks, etc., and cvs logit seems to group the commits by file rather than by date, which makes it difficult to get an overview of what happened in the repository.

Is there any way to do this, dear CVS experts?
