What are CSS hacks?

I found this in the CSS declaration code, from which I am partially responsible:

margin: 0 0 0 10px;
*+margin: 4px 0 0 10px;
margin: 3px 0 0 10px\0/;

... *+and \0/- this is what I look at, in particular. What hacks are used here?

And is there a standard place that I can look at, look at current and past CSS hacks, which also indicate their applicability and usefulness? I want to be able to take a look at the difference between regular hacking and simple code errors.
