Certificate startSSL class 2

StartSSL.com seems to be selling cheap SSL certificates, but I'm wondering if anyone has experience using their certificates.

Validated StartSSL β„’ Verified Certificates StartSSL β„’ Verified (Class 2) is ideal for authentication, B2B and B2C transactions, email protection, and signing object code and macros . What's more, StartSSL β„’ Verified provides flexibility and support options that are not found elsewhere. StartSSL β„’ Verified supports: Web server certificates (SSL / TLS) Wildcards (* .domain.com) Multiple domains (DNS Alt Names) 128/256-bit encryption Object code signing Clients and mail certificates (S / MIME) Insurance guaranteed in the amount of 10 000 US dollars Certificates 2 years (730 days)

Is it safe to transfer personal passport data and information about them together with identity certificates / organization? (their website looks at treatment and helps bounce by email)

I am interested in signing the code, and if this works for the web server, it will be great.

Any other alternatives?

As others noted in the comments, StartSSL certificates are no longer trusted by browsers, and they are no longer issued. I recommend taking a look at Allow Encryption .
