My animated icon does not show animation

I use these

<link rel="icon" href="/images/favicon.png" type="image/x-icon" />
<link rel="shortcut icon" href="/images/favicon.ico" type="image/x-icon" />

Can I see the icon in my address bar, but without animation? What else should I do?

Get rid of the first line pointing to favicon.pngso that you only have

<link rel="shortcut icon" href="/images/favicon.ico" type="image/x-icon" />

And make sure that it favicon.icois a real animated icon, not something renamed. You can use http://www.animatedfavicon.com or http://www.favicongenerator.org to convert an animated .giffile to an animated file .ico.
