How to clone files with colons in a file name

Question

When I clone a repo using msysgit, all files with spaces in the file name are not dumped, and then appear as deleted in status.

File names look something like this: styles-ie (1:12:11 6:02 PM).cssso can it be a colon or brackets?

How can I get these files to lead a local repo with source code?

If you try to do:

touch "styles-ie (1:12:11 6:02 PM).css"

You will see that you cannot create it in Windows.

Basically, repo has a file (blob and tree entry), but you cannot check on Windows, since git cannot create such a file. There is no other way to change the file name.
