Local Source Management

Can anyone recommend a simple, easy-to-use version control system that I can use locally on my laptop for a single user who integrates with VS2010? I'm just looking for something that will allow me to do version control locally and not especially for collaboration.

I used SubVersion as part of the development team, and it works very well with VS2010, but for my personal projects / work I do not want to go on the difficulty of installing SubVersion locally on my laptop just for myself.

I tried Bazaar, but I didn’t really like the version control system, as well as the branches, etc. Any other suggestions are welcome. Thank.

Personally, I recommend that you install the VisualSVN server on your local computer and run Tortiose and VisualSVN or ANKHSvn (open source), which will integrate with Visual Studio and provide all the versioning tools you need.

I personally found Mercurial very simple to pick up. Like Bazaar, this is DVCS, but as a team of 1 person, it really is not necessary to change the workflow.

For Visual Studio integration, there is a VisualHg VS plugin that uses TortoiseHg under the hood.
